Sally supporting Bon Iver

15 Dec 2011

After a busy year touring with band Seeker Lover Keeper, Sally is excited to announce that she will be supporting Grammy award nominated artist Bon Iver AKA Justin Vernon on his Australian tour in March 2012.

With writing now underway for her fourth album (and her second under her own name as she previously released records under the ‘New Buffalo’ moniker), Sally intends to record her new solo album in 2012. “I have been working on some songs for my next solo album, even though I have been really busy playing shows with Seeker Lover Keeper. I love Bon Iver’s music, and can’t wait to play some of my new songs live.”

Vernon’s appreciation of Sally’s work is well documented. In 2009 he named Sally’s New Buffalo album ‘Somewhere, anywhere.’ as the most important album to him of the last few years. Earlier in 2011 Vernon went on record for Triple J’s Hottest 100 Australian Albums, saying “It became the most important album for me for two to three years. It was so complete.”

Sally joins Bon Iver for the following dates:

Saturday March 3 – Perth International Arts Festival, Perth
Tuesday March 6 – Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide
Thursday March 8 – Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne
Thursday, Friday, Saturday March 15, 16 & 17 – The Tivoli, Brisbane

Sally Seltmann – Appetite

1 Aug 2008

We are excited to announce that New Buffalo will be performing live as part of the upcoming theatre production Appetite.

Directed by Kate Denborough, and combining original live music from New Buffalo with text from award-winning playwright Ross Mueller [No Man’s Land, The Store Room], and featuring a fusion of dance, theatre and visual design, Appetite promises to be a sensory feast.

Appetite is the story of a successful woman on the eve of her 39th birthday.
Ambushed by her own sense of disquiet, she invites her closest family and friends to dinner but – as the night progresses, and realising that her hunger for life, for lust, for sensation has disappeared – she is inspired to change.

New Buffalo fans in Melbourne, Australia are in for a real treat, as Appetite will be staged as part of the Melbourne International Arts Festival in October. Check out the TOURS page for performance dates and ticketing info.

2007, a huge year for Sally Seltmann

6 Feb 2008

On the home front New Buffalo released her second album ‘Somewhere, Anywhere’ to much acclaim, resulting in sold out headline shows across the country. The later part of the year saw New Buffalo on national tours with local greats such as Paul Kelly, Tim Rogers and Missy Higgins.

Internationally, New Buffalo released her album in the US and Canada through the Arts & Crafts label, following up the release with tour dates throughout North America with label mates Stars and Broken Social Scene.

As a songwriter, Sally’s career has taken an upward turn with the success of ‘1234’, the song she wrote for Feist. In addition to this 1234 has secured a swag of award nominations [in both the Grammy’s and the Brit Awards] for Feist. The song has also featured in advertising campaigns for the iPod Nano and Ebay Australia. New Buffalo’s own ‘Cheer Me Up Thank You’ is set to feature in an upcoming episode of Grey’s Anatomy, along with song placements in a slew of other US television dramas such as One Tree Hill and Side Order of Life.

With such a great year behind her, New Buffalo plans to greet 2008 with a series of intimate piano shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne this February/March. See the Tours page for details.
