Sally supporting Bon Iver

After a busy year touring with band Seeker Lover Keeper, Sally is excited to announce that she will be supporting Grammy award nominated artist Bon Iver AKA Justin Vernon on his Australian tour in March 2012.

With writing now underway for her fourth album (and her second under her own name as she previously released records under the ‘New Buffalo’ moniker), Sally intends to record her new solo album in 2012. “I have been working on some songs for my next solo album, even though I have been really busy playing shows with Seeker Lover Keeper. I love Bon Iver’s music, and can’t wait to play some of my new songs live.”

Vernon’s appreciation of Sally’s work is well documented. In 2009 he named Sally’s New Buffalo album ‘Somewhere, anywhere.’ as the most important album to him of the last few years. Earlier in 2011 Vernon went on record for Triple J’s Hottest 100 Australian Albums, saying “It became the most important album for me for two to three years. It was so complete.”

Sally joins Bon Iver for the following dates:

Saturday March 3 – Perth International Arts Festival, Perth
Tuesday March 6 – Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide
Thursday March 8 – Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne
Thursday, Friday, Saturday March 15, 16 & 17 – The Tivoli, Brisbane

Women of Letters
The curators of the popular Women of Letters events – Michaela McGuire and Marieke Hardy – have published a collection of letters. The letters have been penned by a host of personalities who have read at previous Women of Letters functions. Sally’s love letter to the song Halo is included among these. All royalties from the sale of this book will go to Edgar’s Mission animal rescue. Visit the Women of Letters website for more info.

‘Decouvert’ – It’s French for ‘Recovery’!
French singer Mercedes Audras has recorded and released her own interpretations of some of Sally’s New Buffalo songs.
French and Spanish versions of ‘Recovery’, ‘Cheer Me Up Thank You’, ‘Come Back’, and ‘I’ve Got You and You’ve Got Me’ feature on Mercedes’ album ’10,000kms’. The album has been released in France, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina.

Seeker Lover Keeper
A new version of the Seeker Lover Keeper self-titled album is now available both on iTunes and in stores. Retailing at a special price, the new version also features the film clips for ‘Light All My Lights’, ‘Even Though I’m a Woman’ and ‘On My Own’. The album re-issue coincides with a series of performances by the girls in churches and cathedrals around the Australia for Heavenly Sounds.

Shooting the clip for ‘Harmony To My Heart Beat’ was an incredibly fun ‘work’ day for me! Clip director Antoung Nguyen and I wanted the clip to feel relaxed and natural, so we pretty much hosted a real pool party. My friends Architecture In Helsinki, Jens Lekman, Jessica Venables and Tim Harvey all feature in the clip.
I played a short solo set on an old Rhodes piano, then it was time for swimming, cake and dancing! It was an amazing day, and I felt really lucky to be able to work with Moopjaw on making such a memorable film clip.

Heavenly Sounds Present Seeker Lover Keeper

Seeker Lover Keeper have announced a series of shows in November and December. The tour is presented by Heavenly Sounds and will see Sally, Holly & Sarah performing in churches and cathedrals in all major capital cities around the country. On Friday September 2 Sally will be launching a unique poetry installation called ‘Poet’s Corner’ at the Sebel Pier One Hotel in Sydney. The installation is part of Australian Poetry week. The Poet’s Corner will be installed in the hotel lobby during National Poetry Week from September 5-11 and we encourage you to visit!
Melbourne artist Angel Tsang has painted a portrait of Sally. The painting will be revealed on Friday September 2 between 6-9pm at the No Vacancy Project Space in Federation Square, Melbourne.

They Will Have Their Way

Sally will be touring across Australia this November as part of ‘They WIll Have Their Way – A Tribute to the songs of Tim & Neil Finn’. Inspired by the success of the two tribute albums ‘She Will Have Her Way’ and ‘He Will Have His Way’, the tour will feature performances from Lior, Holly Throsby, Alexander Gow (Oh Mercy), Sarah Blasko, Paul Dempsey, Clare Bowditch and Sally. Sally has joined forces with her friends Sarah Blasko and Holly Throsby to form the band Seeker Lover Keeper. The ladies recorded an album last August in New York City which will be released in Australia on June 3. The trio will be touring nationally and performing songs from their album this July.
Seeker Lover Keeper have posted three videos to their website as an introduction to the album. The videos, directed by Natalie van den Dungen, feature three actors – Barry Otto, John Waters and Aden Young – in a sparse theatre setting. We hope you find them as powerful, bewildering, and moving as we do.
